Guide to Planning a Budget Disney Vacation this Summer

Remember the feeling you had the first time you visited one of the Disney parks? The awe you felt as you gazed upon the charm of Main Street and its shops, restaurants, and themed parlors. Or, how about the first time you went on a ride? The magic of Disney's movies come alive in nearly every ride you experienced. For many parents, they'll always remember the very first time their own children laid eyes on Disneyland or Walt Disney World. Now that summer's here, there's never been a better time to plan a memorable Disney vacation for the family that will also be easy on your wallet!

* Always look for discounts. Rather than buying the plane tickets and then showing up at the Disney hotel and the Disney parks to pay for everything, buy ahead. The more services you can buy ahead of time, and all at once, the better your value will be. Some companies have tickets and season passes for sale at discounted prices through their Human Resources Departments. You can also check online for people who can no longer use their tickets and are looking to sell them. If you're a member of AARP or AAA, see if you can receive further discounts just for being a member! * Go with a travel agency or buy an online bundle. Travel agencies are able to provide huge discounts due to their relationship with the airlines, hotels, and theme parks, so they can often times beat out any other discount available. Plan to purchase everything upfront and be sure to ask them about value packages for multiple night stays. You can sometimes get a free night if you stay for 6 nights, for example.

* Dining and restaurant costs. Sometimes, online coupons and discounts are available for specific restaurants inside or near the Disney parks. I found a site offering a 20% discount off of every person's meal if you eat at certain restaurants. Then, you can plan for which nearby hotel to stay at and the theme park, restaurant, and hotel will all be within walking distance; you can forego the cost of a rental car for the week.

* Choose a Value Resort. There are 2 options to choose from to suite anyone's budget. They have 3 tiers of per-night prices to choose from: Value at $82, Moderate at $145, and a Deluxe for $215. Consider the time you'll be spending outside of the hotel doing activities, sightseeing and how many days you'll want to spend at the theme parks. Once you stop and think about it, if amenities are not that important to you, the Value Resort is the best option so you can save money on hotel costs.
For a Disney vacation that can really stretch your dollar, look for hotel, theme park, and restaurant discounts online and through a travel agency or where you work. Take advantage of additional discounts that might be available through an AAA or AARP memberships and buy everything for your vacation in a bundle. Following these simple tips will give you the best vacation for your dollar!
